Section 12- Pre-Exam

Always remember that you, the driver are in control. Also remember the laws of physics and why you should always work to avoid losing control. Your decisions and actions when you are behind the wheel of a moving vehicle have a direct impact on your safety, that of your passengers, and the safety of anyone around you. When you respect our traffic laws and follow the rules of the road, you put yourself in the best position to maintain a high degree of safety on our streets and roads. As a good defensive driver, you will remain attentive and anticipate the dangerous behavior of other drivers. Doing so enables you to recognize a problem and react to it before it becomes an immediate threat.

In this course, you learned about inspecting your vehicle before you even leave your driveway. You read about monitoring your vehicle’s performance while underway, aiming high in your steering, and scanning as you drive. You learned about common actions you will take under normal driving conditions. You also learned how to adjust your driving habits for when conditions are less than ideal up to and including on board emergencies.

You got a great deal of information about traffic laws and their associated consequences. You learned about sharing the road whether it’s with pedestrians or 18 – wheelers. You saw examples of traffic signals and signs and thought about some “what if” scenarios.
